Air conditioning for dogs & pets
Dogs and other pets can't tell you when they're overheating, and by the time the signs are obvious, it can already be an emergency. We install air conditioning across Surrey and Dorset to give pets a genuinely cool room to retreat to, not just an open window and a bowl of water.
How quickly heat becomes dangerous for a dog
Vets saw five times more heatstroke cases in dogs during 2022's heat-alert periods than normal, and one in four affected dogs died. Heatstroke can develop fast, and dogs are far less able to cool themselves down than humans, since they can only lose heat through panting and a small amount of sweating through their paw pads.

More likely to fall ill from a hot walk than a hot car

Inside a car after 10 minutes, on a 21°C day

The risk isn't just about cars
Dogs are actually 10 times more likely to suffer heat-related illness from being walked in hot weather than from being left in a car, but cars remain a genuine danger too. Research commissioned by confused, found that on a day that's just 21°C outside, a car can reach 32°C inside within 10 minutes, and 45°C within an hour. The same principle applies indoors: a conservatory, a caravan, or a room with large south-facing windows can heat up just as fast as a parked car.

Even careful owners who avoid midday walks and keep water topped up can't control how hot their home gets while they're out at work. A reliably cool room gives a dog or cat somewhere to retreat to on the hottest days, regardless of what's happening with walks or routine.

Generally wherever they spend most of the day when you're not home, often a kitchen, utility room, or a favourite spot by a window. We can advise on this at the quote stage.

Modern units run quietly, but if your pet is particularly noise-sensitive, we can talk through unit options and placement to minimise this.
